Infinix Mobility has undeniably taken Nigeria by storm in recent months with their new android smartphone offerings. There have been a number of interesting offerings but the two most interesting ones are the X506 which comes in two variants (8gb and 16gb) and the all new sizzling hot HOT! Pun intended, sorry I couldn't resist that.
I am going to make a comparison between both devices and try to narrow down on their pros and cons, to help you make a decision on which represents the 'best bang for your buck' this xmas season.
The X506 8gb as it implies comes with 8gb internal flash memory with support for expandable storage of up to 32gb via micro-sd cards. It has an MTK MT6592 Octa-Core processor chip clocked at 1.4ghz, paired with a Mali 450MP GPU and 1gb Ram. The x506 comes with a stunning 5'' IPS 720p HD display with 1280x720 pixel resolution, a 13mp rear camera with sony exmor lens and a 2mp front facing camera. It is a quad band dual sim device with EDGE, 3G and HSDPA. The device comes packed with proximity, gyro and light sensors, a led indicator for notifications, standard connectivity options including bluetooth 4.0, micro usb 2.0 and wifi but lacks infrared blaster, 4g LTE or NFC. The X506 comes with a 1920MAH battery to ensure that sleek slim design. Noting its sleekness, it comes clad in corning gorilla glass 3 which is awesome, and runs on Android KitKat 4.4.2 which is uber awesome.
The device goes for N20,900 on Konga and this version comes in either black or white. A gold colour is available for its 16gb iteration.
On a flip side, the Infinix Hot comes with 16gb internal flash memory without support for expandable storage. It has an MTK MT6582 quad-core chipset clocked at 1.3ghz, paired with a Mali 400MP GPU and 1gb Ram. The Hot comes with a 5'' FWVGA display with 480x854 pixel resolution , a 5mp rear camera and a 2mp front facing camera. Its also a quad band dual sim device with EDGE, 3G and HSDPA. The device also comes packed with proximity, gyro and light sensors, standard connectivity options including bluetooth 4.0, micro usb 2.0 and wifi but lacks infrared blaster, 4g LTE or NFC. Interestingly, the Hot comes with a 2000MAH battery, in 5 sizzling hot colours of plastic and costs N12,900.
Now heres my opinion.
If you are new to the Android device world and want to own one for the first time, and want a very budget friendly one, the Infinix Hot is not a bad choice. Its super affordable, runs on android 4.4.2, has a host of connectivity options, a decent low end chipset configuration and a 2000MAH battery. This device will certainly hold more juices than the x506 as its battery capacity is more by 80MAH and it powers a considerably weaker screen and less power demanding Processor.
The deficiencies of this device against the x506 8gb in my opinion are a cheaper screen, cheap looking plastic body in girly shouting colours, a less powerful processor and a lower performing camera. But it costs N12,900, so you basically get what you pay for. Nothing more, nothing less.
Now, if you are willing to pay N8,000 more, you get a crystal clear HD display which is worlds apart from the Hot, a more powerful, graphics intensive processor capable of handling HD games, a nicer sleeker chassis with scratch resistant corning gorilla glass 3, a 13mp rear camera that obliterates that of the Hot and only one downside. Your 1920MAH battery that constantly dies on you.
Whatever choice you make, you will have loads of Kitkat fun and probably Lollipop fun too in the not too far future via custom roms.
