So. My first blog post ever was about spotify and I thought I'd do a follow up on that. This post will teach you how to get rid of that shuffle play only restriction on your smartphone, as well as give you access to cross-fade and gap-less playback, which you can only get by being a premium subscriber.
Okay, to be able to use this guide, you need to be on the android platform and have a rooted phone. To root your phone, you can check for guides on google or xda. If you have a rooted phone with supersu installed, you are ready to perform this procedure so lets jump in.
First, you need to install xposed framework on your device. After installing, configure it by clicking framework, then install/update. Do a reboot and you have xposed framework all set up and ready to go. You can check out the downloads column of the app to find more awesome xposed apps but, that's for later.
For now, you need to download and install TabletMetrics 2.2. Go to the modules section of your xposed app, check the box next to the Tabletmetrics module then do a reboot. That should get you Tablet mode.
This xposed module tricks spotify into seeing your 4,5 or 6 inch smartphone as a tablet and it runs in tablet mode. The thing is, spotify for Tablets and PC have those precious features which smartphone users can only have access to if they are premium subscribers.
If you have successfully completed the steps, launch spotify and enjoy your new privileges.
Thanks for reading and don't forget to comment and leave your feedbacks or questions.
This morning, my wife asked me how she could install and use spotify on her android device like I had on mine. Turns out that she had tried to do that all day yesterday without success. 'It should be a straightforward thing' she thought. Well, it is straightforward if You're in the UK or US. I immediately imagined how so many tech noobs are in her shoes, thus this guide.
If you're reading this blog, I believe you already know what spotify is. But for the sake of readers who dont know, I'll tell you a thing or two about it.
Spotify is the best thing that has happened to music lovers since 2006. It is a totally awesome commercial music streaming service, which puts your favourite music at your fingertips literally. Spotify content cuts across all music genres, meaning its for everybody. Naija? Dubstep? HipHop? its all there. Heck! Hindustani, Boss Nova.... Okay. I'm kidding. I don't really know about that but it has it all. With support for Android, IOS and PC, huge MP3 file downloads are a thing of the past. Okay. Now you know Spotify so lets get down to business.
Step 1: First of all, you have to install Spotify on your dvice. Spotify wont be available for you to download on Google playstore as it is not for use outside a few countries yet. Click on the install link to download an apk file which you can install by copying to your phones SD memory. Be sure to set your device to allow installations from unknown sources. To do this, go to settings, Security, check unknown sources box.
Step 2: Next, head to google playstore and install droidvpn. There are many VPN services available, but I personally recommend Droidvpn for the task. Using Droidvpn for Android you can surf using UK and US proxy. You will have to create a free account before you can use Droidvpn. So create your free account, get your password and sign in and connect to a UK or US server.
Step 3: After activating the UK proxy on Droidvpn, launch Spotify from your app drawer and click on 'sign in with facebook'. It’s mandatory to have a Facebook account to register to Spotify. If you have a facebook account registered on your device, BOOM! You're in. Enjoy pure music ecstasy.
After spotify logs you in for the 1st time, you don't always need to connect your droidvpn to use it.
Please feel free to drop comments and questions. Hope you enjoyed it.
Oops! for the record, I did hook my wife up with the service. Nearly forgot to add that.
